For repeat prescriptions please allow at least 24 hours for them to be approved, although we aim to make these available on the day of the request. If you have completely run out of your medication please let the receptionist know, and we will do our best to get the prescription ready for you to collect on the same day.
The prescriptions can be either collected or posted, for which there is a small charge.
If you request an item which is not on your regular repeat prescription list, the doctor will need to check if it is appropriate, and may need to arrange a review appointment.
It is considered good practice for your doctor to periodically see you in person for a review for certain conditions. For example – every 6 months for blood pressure medication, at least once every year for asthma inhalers, and at least once a year for thyroid medication. This is to ensure you are on the correct medication for your medical condition, and at the correct dose.
Certain medications, such as cholesterol and thyroid treatments, need a blood test at least once a year to check you are on the correct dose. We will inform you when your review is required.
